Approximately 65.5 million years ago, a massive asteroid around ten kilometers (six miles) in diameter struck the Earth with immense force, causing the extinction of millions of plants and animal species. Among those lost were the dinosaurs, which vanished entirely and forever from the face of the planet.

But, It was not the first time they went extinct !

Wait, what? Extinct more than once? Yes, indeed. Let me explain. Many of us studied this in our 7th-grade geography lessons: our planet Earth has faced five mass extinctions over the past 500 million years. Yes, our mother Earth goes way back further than we can imagine, and we've come a long way since then.

During those five extinctions, Earth tried to rebuild itself every time, iteratively, over and over again, never stopping. Some parts of this eternal nature did stop, like the mighty dinosaurs. They returned to the face of the Earth three times over 270 million years but couldn't withstand the harsh requirements of our nature. However, some species and plants survived because of their iterative nature to adapt to changes. There's only one rule of survival in this kingdom: 

 enough to adapt to uncertainties and changes, the one who iterates over and over again until it is fit for the current circumstances—and doesn't stop there.

Sharks have managed to outlast countless other species over millions of years and multiple mass extinctions. Here's why these remarkable creatures have stood the test of time:

: Sharks are the ultimate predators of the sea. Their streamlined bodies and powerful tails make them incredibly fast and efficient hunters. Their body shape has remained largely unchanged for millions of years because it is perfectly adapted for their predatory lifestyle. This physical prowess allows them to capture prey with precision and escape potential threats quickly.

: Sharks survived because they were agile enough and responsive to adapt to changes in their environment. Unlike many other species that failed to evolve quickly enough, sharks could adjust their hunting strategies, migration patterns, and even diets to cope with changing conditions. This adaptability is a key reason for their longevity.

: Sharks possess several unique biological features that have contributed to their survival. For instance:

: Sharks have consistently adapted to environmental changes throughout history. This ability to change with their surroundings has allowed them to thrive while other species perished. For example, during periods of significant ocean temperature shifts or changes in sea levels, sharks adjusted their habitats and behaviors accordingly.

: Sharks are known for their keen senses, such as their acute sense of smell and ability to detect electrical fields produced by other organisms. These heightened senses help them locate prey and avoid danger, enhancing their survival prospects.

🌍 The Necessity of Adapting to Change

Adapting to changes is crucial for survival in any environment. Just as sharks have demonstrated, being agile and responsive to shifts in surroundings, climate, and available resources can mean the difference between thriving and becoming extinct. This principle applies not only to wildlife but also to our daily lives and productivity systems. 

Embracing change, continuously learning, and being flexible in our approaches enable us to navigate uncertainties successfully and emerge stronger. In the fast-paced world we live in, the ability to adapt is more important than ever, mirroring the survival strategies that have kept sharks swimming through the ages.
